Sorrow And Psychomathium Consummate

Toilet Ov Hell

A mournful ghost haunts the wastes of Henderson, Texas. You can hear its mournful cries echoing across Wiley Webb Lake during the witching hour on a moonless night. Or, you can just check outSar Nath‘s Sorrow and Psychopathium Consummate. This DSBM record is loaded with the staples of the genre, including pained shrieks, raw production, and minimalist rhythms, but there are some unique elements that keep me coming back for more sorrow. On a day like today, when tragedy feels so real and present, I can find a counterpoint in Sar Nath’s art. FFO: Lifelover, Intig, Borgne

Texas's  solo  project  Sar  Nath have  returned  with  a  new  album  that  continues  the  psychotic  black  metal  sound  of   previous  recordings  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2015  album  "Sorrow  And  Psychopathium  Consummate"  which  was  released  by  Merdumgiriz.

A  very  fast  and  raw  black  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  blast  beats,  melodic  guitar  leads  and  high  pitched screams  and  the  songs  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  vocals  also  get  very  grim  and  deep  at  times  and  the  music  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  atmospheric  elements.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  great amount  of  distorted  melodies  and  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  at  times  along  with  some  synths  being  used  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  a  touch  of  death  metal  and  as  the  album  progresses  clean  playing  can  be  heard  and  you  can  also  hear  hear traces  of  noise  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  vocals  also  get  very depressive  at  times.

Sar  Nath   creates  another  psychotic  black  metal  album  that  also  mixes  in  raw,  depressive  and  atmospheric  elements  while  also  bringing  in  a  touch  of  death  metal,  experimental  and  noise, the  productions  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  ghosts,  demons,  mental  illness  and  private  hells.

In  my  opinion  Sar  Nath  and  if  you  are a  fan  of  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Evil  Looks Turns  Right"  "Heart  In  A  Jar"  and  "Bleakened".

Cadaver Garden

With the name Merdumgiriz attached to anything, there is one thing that you will know for certain, and that is whatever the genre may be it will be incredibly intriguing and entirely different from what you are use to hearing. With that being said, the latest genre breaking and boundary pushing endeavor comes by the name of Sar NathSar Nath is a one man psychotic black metal band from the United States. The man behind Sar Nath didn’t use to play this brand of torturous music however. Upon listening, the music that will assault your ears is a far cry from what he use to play as his old brand of music was melodic death/power metal.Sar Nath isn’t anything close to either of those genres, in fact the music is far more accosting and assaults you in ways that you never knew you could be assaulted.

From the very beginning of Sorrow and Psychopathium Consummate you realize that the music you are listening to isn’t regular, it is far from it. Not only is it black metal, but mixed in with the black metal seems to be certain industrial elements. But no matter what is mixed in and what isn’t mixed in, the “psychotic” tag on this music is really what stands out.

Sounding like the inner workings of a serial killer’s mind, Sorrow and Psychopathium Consummate takes you on a never ending torturous journey and a maddening descent into dementia. There are only glimpses of straight forward black metal within this release, as the majority of this album is covered in psychosis and sprinkled with delirium.

With being fed up with completely mainstream and entirely accessible music, Lord Sar (creator of Sar Nath and lone musician) has created something that is almost the complete opposite which was the point. The music is completely ugly, the production is gritty, and the entirety of the album is bleak, dissonant, discordant, and somehow it is strangely beautiful at the same time. And when I say ugly, I mean that it is devoid of all sanity and packed full with nightmares and soul sucking darkness.

With all of the discord comes melody in certain areas to make sure that you don’t completely lock yourself away in a room or get taken away to the loony bin. The electronic and industrial elements make the album that much more insane and portray insanity. The feeling you get to understand once listening to Sorrow and Psychopathium Consummate is not one of peace and serenity, instead it is one of darkness and soul piercing solitude.

Nothing within the album is straight forward as everything is varied. The riffs aren’t just cold and chaotic as you would expect from a black metal album. The riffs are cold sure, but they are melodic when needed, dissonant at other times, but are entirely wrist slitting all of the time. The drums hatchet away at your putrid flesh as the diverse vocals strip flesh from bone. Within each song Lord Sar displays a very wide range of vocal styles transitioning between blood curdling shrieks to demonic growls to other worldly gutturals. In between those three prominent styles is the occasional ghastly screaming that wafts over the music like poison fog.

Sorrow and Psychopathium Consummate is entirely petrifying. Each song is destructive, but not in a physical way but in a mental way. This release chips away at what sanity you have left and feasts on it like a pack of rabid starving wolves. What you have with this release is something intriguing, genuine and devoid of all light, and that is just how I like it.

Epilogue Eternal Reviews

Metalhead.it

Chiude l’esperienza rumorista e caotica di “Purping of Lust from Tarpits of Malice”.

Sar  Nath  are  a  solo  project  from  Texas  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  psychotic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2015  ep  "Epilogue  Eternal"  which  was  released  by  Merdumgiriz.

Melodic  and  depressive  sounding  guitar  leads  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  grim  black  metal  vocals  and  screams  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  leads  up  to  some  crazy  sounding  programmed  drum  beats  and  the riffs  also  use  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

A  lot  of  the  screams  are  in  a  high  pitched  direction  and  when  the  music  speeds  up it  brings  in  more  of  a  raw  black  metal  style  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  of  the  slower  sections  also  incorporating  elements  of  doom  metal  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  trace  of  the  depressive  style  at  times  along  with  some  influences  of  the  early 2000's  black  metal  style  and  there  is  also a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  and  the  ep closes  with  a  harsh  noise  outro.

Sar  Nath  focuses  more  on  a  guitar  orientated  style  of  black  metal  this  time  around creating  a  recording  that  is  very  grim,  raw  and  depressive  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover ghosts,  demons,  mental  illness  and  private hells.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sar  Nath  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  psychotic black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.

Freshly Skinned And Left For Dead Reviews

Occult Black Metal Zine

Sar Nath are a solo project from Texas that plays a very raw and atmospheric style of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Freshly Skinned And Left For Dead" which was released by Merdumgiriz Records.

Dark, melodic and atmospheric sounds start off the album and once the grim black metal screams kick in the music goes into more of a fast and raw direction along with a great amount of blast beats and melodic guitar leads and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.

Deep growls can be heard in certain sections of the recording and some of t he songs also bring in a small amount of spoken word parts and the faster sections bring in a great amount of early 90's second wave elements while the music is more noisier than that style and some of the songs also bring in depressive melodies.

When synths are utilized they give the music more of a dark and evil atmosphere while the music can also get experimental at times adding in a touch of noise and power electronics at times and all of the songs bring in a great amount of diversity and there is also one track that is very long and epic in length as well as introducing clean vocals onto the recording   and some of the slower riffing also brings in a touch of doom metal at times.

Sar Nath creates a style of black metal that is very dark and raw in a second wave tradition but also can be very depressive, original and experimental at times, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Ghosts, Demons, Mental Illness and Private Hells.

In my opinion Sar Nath are a very great sounding raw and experimental black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Incision Has Not Yet Appeared" "Rainshards" "The Bloodies Ghost Of the Sepulchure" and "Succumbing To Possessions Fire".
